The Boise Public Works Department's mission is to use our resources effectively and to protect the health, safety and welfare of the community leaving a legacy of enhanced quality of life for Boise.
Our charge is to protect and enhance Boise's environment through responsible management of wastewater treatment, surface water and ground water quality, trash and recycling collection, street lights and a natural geothermal heating system.
The Public Works Commission is an advisory board to the city council on issues that relate to the Public Works Department. The commission advises the city council on policy, exceptions to policy, and makes budget recommendations.
The Public Works Department is composed of five Divisions that provide administrative, operational, environmental, and engineering services.
