Sewer Collection System

Maintenance
Our Utilities Maintenance group, part of the Operations Division of Public Works, maintains overĀ 700 miles of sanitary sewer collection pipe which includes over twenty-five lift stations (pump stations) positioned throughout our service area. Our staff regularly cleans the sewer lines with high-pressure water and inspects the lines using a special television system. We inspect our lift stations weekly and provide maintenance as needed. When abnormalities in the lines are detected by our inspection system we work quickly to correct the deficiencies to ensure appropriate service for our customers at all times.

Repairs
The Utilities Maintenance group makes major repairs to the sewer system using an in-house major repair and maintenance crew. This same crew responds to emergency situations and provides limited construction services for infrastructure maintenance and expansion. We also make extensive use of independent construction companies for large-scale repairs or installation of new pipe and equipment.

Customer Inquiries
The Utilities Maintenance group responds to customer back-up calls, sewer odor concerns and customer issues regarding construction activities.
